Gov. Brad
Henry has signed a bill to exempt Oklahoma soldiers from state income
tax on federal pay.
The exemption will apply to all troops, whether they serve in the
National Guard, Reserve or on active duty.
Sen. Steve Russell, R-Oklahoma City, a sponsor of Senate Bill 881, said:
"Right now, we are losing two out of three soldiers when they relocate
their residence to other states with more favorable tax laws. Now we can
tell those soldiers, 'Welcome back to Oklahoma.' "
